It’s harvest time.

As the fall season begins, there’s a lot going on in the a cappella world – including not one, not two, but THREE major a cappella events on Saturday, October 5. Here’s our breakdown of current events in the aca-world.

The Open Finals – October 5, 2019

Varsity Vocals’ annual #AcaOpen is here, featuring ten of the best a cappella groups from across the world. Those groups include ICHSA champions InToneNation, ICCA champions The NYU N’Harmonics, and young semi-pro groups like Nomadic. They’re competing at Carnegie Hall in New York City for international recognition and $25,000. Learn more and get tickets here!

Broadway Goes A Cappella – October 5, 2019 (again)

Broadway and a cappella veterans collide (or collude?) in the fourth installment of this all-vocal cabaret show at The Green Room 42 in NYC. Creator Evan Feist directs a powerful ensemble of over two dozen vocalists including Gerianne Perez (In Transit, Waitress), Cheeyang Ng (Vocalosity, The Apex Project), and Barry Carl (Rockapella). Learn more and get tickets here!

Haunted Harmonies – October 5, 2019 (still)

If you’ve already picked out/designed/created your costume for Halloween, this spooky spectacular in Salem should be your Saturday scene. It’s an all-day festival featuring masterclasses, street singing, and a full competition AND concert featuring HIVE, all with a touch (or a bucket) of Halloween inspiration. The festival is free to attend, and you can get tickets for the competition/concert here!

Something that didn’t happen on October 5th!

Pentatonix’s vocal percussionist and celloboxer Kevin Olusola got married! PEOPLE has the scoop on their wedding festivities earlier in September, which included a traditional Nigerian and a contemporary American ceremony. Unfortunately we cannot provide a ticket link, as this event already happened and, statistically speaking, you probably weren’t invited.
