One of the a cappella world’s biggest events just got bigger. This year’s #NACC18 Invitational features 10 collegiate and 10 high school groups from across the United States, competing for recognition and a $5,000 cash prize. Today we highlight Reverb, Florida State University’s all-male group. With seven recent CARA wins, including four for their new Christmas album “In the Quiet White”, Reverb is ready to take on the competition at this year’s convention. We asked them a few questions about their group’s identity and preparation for the NACC.
How would you define your group’s identity?
Reverb’s identity is one that changes with every new member that we acquire. Over everything else, we strive to make music that is fun to sing for each member individually and as a unit. Historically we’ve
enjoyed singing alternative, pop, and r&b music all with jazzy and choral twists, but each of our members is an artist in himself with a unique taste in music, so our sound identity changes all the time!
What are you looking forward to at the Convention?
We are looking forward to hearing all the new groundbreaking music by all the high school and collegiate groups; both lineups are outstanding this year. We also look forward to hopefully meeting as many new faces as possible and learning as much as we can at all the classes!
What’s happening for your group in the next 12 months?
In the next year, Reverb is planning on arranging, recording, and releasing our fourth studio album! Aside from this, we’re looking to continuously expand our fan base and perform as much as we can, all while pushing the boundaries of a Capella writing and singing.
