One of the a cappella world’s biggest events just got bigger. The #NACC18 Invitational has opened up to high school groups this year, and ten stellar groups from across the country are competing for recognition and a $5,000 cash prize. Today we highlight Legacy, Germantown High School’s premiere contemporary a cappella ensemble. Here’s what they had to say.
How would you define your group’s identity?
Legacy’s identity is a group that enjoys each other’s company and loves to sing music across many time periods of pop music. We sing music that grandparents, parents and students can enjoy over a multigenerational audience.
What are you looking forward to at the Convention?
We are looking forward to hearing all the amazing talent in the competitions, showcases and aca-pops. We also enjoy the interest sessions and learning about the many different aspects of a cappella singing, recording, arranging and performing. Last year we loved the Master Classes with the judges and learned a lot about connecting with our audience on a deeper level.
What’s happening for your group in the next 12 months?
In the next 12 months, we will would like to record our first album. We are beginning to arrange our own charts and this skill has grown our musicianship. We will also be saying goodbye to our graduating seniors and bringing in new members to our group.
